Hyderabad, Sept 24 (Maxim News): A POCSO court in the city has sentenced a 27-year-old man to five years of simple imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 9,000 for sexually harassing an 11-year-old girl in Musheerabad.
According to the police, the victim’s mother lodged a complaint on June 4, 2023, stating that V Manikanta, their neighbour, had been behaving inappropriately with her daughter for several days. He allegedly pulled her hair, held her hands and legs, made inappropriate remarks about her clothes and touched her cheeks.
The case was investigated by the Musheerabad police, while the victim was provided counselling and emotional support through the Bharosa Centre. The coordinated efforts of the investigating officer, police personnel, prosecution team and Bharosa Centre staff contributed to securing the conviction, the police added. (Maxim News)
