Delhi/Hyderabad, Sept 28 (Maxim News): The Joint Parliamentary Committee on the FCRA Bill will meet tomorrow (Tuesday). The committee will discuss various issues in its second meeting. Officials from the Home and Law departments will provide details to the committee on each issue of the Foreign Funds Amendment Bill-2026. SBI Chairman Challa Srinivasulu Shetty will appear before the committee at 2 pm on the use of foreign funds and management of accounts. Additional Solicitor General Chetan Sharma will express his views on the provisions and legal implications of the bill.
t is known that Home Secretary Govind Mohan gave a clarification on monitoring and transparency of foreign funds in the first meeting held on September 18. Amendments will be made for complete digital monitoring of the use of foreign funds received by NGOs, universities and research institutes. Proposals will be made to create special powers to monitor or auction the assets of institutions whose licenses have been canceled. Congress, Samajwadi and Trinamool Congress leaders are strongly opposing these amendments to the law, saying that they are targeting NGOs and minority schools. In this context, the central government has made it clear that changes to the Foreign Funds Act are being made to protect national interests and internal security of the country. (Maxim News)
