Hyderabad, Oct. 7: TG SAFE Drugs Wing detected discrepancies at 111 medical shops during a special enforcement drive against the illegal sale of habit forming drugs.
The raids were conducted on October 6 across vulnerable areas of the CURE region. Teams targeted medical shops in Charminar, Mehdipatnam, Tolichowki, Malakpet and Goshamahal.
The operation was carried out by the Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE) along with police personnel from its Enforcement Wing.
TG SAFE Targets Illegal Drug Sales
Officials focused on the suspected illegal sale and diversion of habit forming medicines during the raids.
The medicines checked included Tramadol, Tapentadol, Nitrazepam, Pregabalin containing formulations, Zolpidem and Alprazolam.

Officials also checked Codeine containing cough syrups at the targeted medical shops.
Discrepancies were detected at 111 medical shops during the enforcement drive. Authorities issued show cause notices to the concerned establishments.
Departmental action may include suspension or cancellation of drug licences, according to TG SAFE.
The special drive forms part of efforts to curb the illegal sale and diversion of habit forming drugs in vulnerable areas of the CURE region.
