Hyderabad: Posters depicting Prime Minister Narendra Modi as Lord Sri Rama, Union Home Minister Amit Shah as Lakshmana and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde as Hanuman have appeared at a busy junction in Hyderabad.
The posters are reportedly associated with an organisation identifying itself as Telangana Shiv Sena. A video circulating online also shows members discussing a proposed “paalabhishekam” for the posters.
The display has drawn attention because it uses religious imagery to portray serving political leaders in a public space.
Hyderabad Posters Featuring Political Leaders Draw Attention
According to the information available, the posters place Modi in the role of Lord Rama, Shah as Lakshmana and Shinde as Hanuman.
The appearance of the posters has raised questions over the use of religious symbolism in political messaging. The proposed paalabhishekam has also added to the attention surrounding the display.
There has been no confirmed indication that the posters were officially authorised by the BJP, the Union government or the Maharashtra government.
The specific organisation responsible for putting up the posters and whether any permission was obtained for their display would need to be established by the relevant authorities.
