Borabanda Police Execute PD Act Against Illegal Belt Shop Operator

Hyderabad, Oct. 8: Borabanda Police executed Preventive Detention (PD) Act orders against an alleged illegal belt shop operator on October 8 following orders from Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar.

The woman was identified as Ch. Mariya alias Ch. Marry, 40, a businesswoman and resident of Vinayak Rao Nagar, Borabanda.

Police said Mariya had allegedly been operating an illegal belt shop within Borabanda Police Station limits for several years. She was also allegedly involved in multiple cases linked to unauthorised liquor sales.

Borabanda Police Warn Against Illegal Liquor Sales

Police said the PD Act action was taken considering her alleged continued involvement in unlawful activities related to illegal liquor sales.

Borabanda Police warned people operating unauthorised belt shops to stop selling liquor without a valid licence. Such activity is a violation of the Telangana Excise Act.

Police said cases will be registered under the Telangana Excise Act against those found selling liquor illegally. The PD Act may also be invoked against habitual offenders.

People providing premises or shelter for illegal belt shops may also face legal action, police warned.

Police urged residents to report illegal belt shops or unauthorised liquor sales in the Borabanda area by calling 112. Authorities said informants’ details would be kept confidential.
