Hyderabad, Oct 17 (Maxim News): A total of 151 officer trainees completed the first phase of basic training at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Hyderabad on Saturday.
The passing-out parade of the 78th batch of Indian Police Service (IPS) probationers marked the completion of Phase-I training. Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan attended the Dikshant Parade as the chief guest and reviewed the ceremony.
The group comprised 135 IPS probationers and 16 foreign officer trainees from Nepal, Bhutan and the Maldives. The batch includes 37 women officers.
Training Covers Cybercrime, AI and Emerging Security Threats
The probationers received training in policing, criminal investigation, forensic science, internal security, public order, criminology and police management. The curriculum also covered human rights and the implementation of India’s new criminal laws.
Training addressed emerging law enforcement challenges, including cybercrime, cryptocurrency-related fraud, darknet operations, financial crimes and drug trafficking. Officers also studied threats involving artificial intelligence and drones.
The trainees gained practical experience through attachments with specialised police and security organisations. These included Telangana’s Greyhounds, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police and the Border Security Force.
They also participated in field exercises involving crowd management, election duties and security arrangements during major public events. These activities were designed to prepare them for operational responsibilities.
Following the parade, the probationers will proceed to further attachments with central police organisations and armed forces. They will subsequently undergo district practical training in their allotted cadres before returning to the academy for Phase-II training.
