Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president N Ramchander Rao has challenged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to provide evidence of voter deletions during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
Rao claimed that no voter had approached the party alleging that their name was deleted from the electoral rolls. He accused Revanth Reddy and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of misleading the public with their allegations.
The BJP leader said the Congress was repeatedly raising the issue of “vote chori” without providing sufficient evidence. He also criticised Gandhi’s remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Revanth Reddy had alleged that the BJP was attempting to win elections by deleting eligible voters through SIR. He claimed the exercise targeted poor people, including Adivasis, Dalits, minorities and women.
The Chief Minister cited elections in West Bengal and Maharashtra while accusing the BJP of using voter deletions to gain electoral advantages. These allegations remain disputed.
BJP Announces Rallies Against Congress Over SIR
Rao announced that the Telangana BJP would organise rallies and padayatras to counter what he described as the Congress’s “false narrative” on voter deletions.
The campaign will carry the theme “Save Democracy – Fight Against Anarchy.” The first rally is scheduled for Hyderabad on November 1.
The BJP plans to organise another rally in Siddipet on November 3 or 4. A further rally is scheduled for Karimnagar on November 5.
Rao accused the Congress of attempting to provoke young people through its allegations. He said the party would expose what it considers misleading claims about the electoral revision process.
Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi has continued to accuse the Election Commission of enabling “vote chori.” Addressing a Congress rally in Goa, he described voter theft allegations as an attack on the Constitution.
Gandhi also demanded accountability from Gyanesh Kumar and other officials. He challenged the government to file a case against him over his repeated allegations.
The controversy comes amid wider political disagreements over SIR and the accuracy of electoral rolls. The Election Commission has directed officials to conduct a special drive to identify eligible voters who may have been left out.
Under the drive, booth-level officers will visit voters excluded from the current rolls and facilitate fresh enrolment where eligibility is established. Eligible voters can also apply for enrolment through Form 6.
The dispute over alleged voter deletions continues, with Congress leaders demanding scrutiny and the BJP rejecting their accusations.
