ACB Raids NIMS | Hyderabad, Oct 30: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has intensified its investigation into alleged irregularities at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad. The Central Investigation Unit (CIU) conducted simultaneous searches across several hospital departments.
More than 30 officials from the ACB and TG SAFE participated in the inspections. The teams examined records related to tenders, purchases, recruitment and outsourced services dating back to 2014.

The investigation covers contracts for hospital stores, manpower recruitment, security services, the canteen and the medical shop. Officials also scrutinised documents related to tenders issued over the past decade.
Food inspectors inspected the NIMS canteen, while drug inspectors examined files at the surgical stores department. Food inspectors reportedly expressed shock over the unhygienic conditions inside the canteen. They also reprimanded the management for failing to maintain cleanliness.
ACB raids NIMS | ACB Examines Decade of Tender Records
According to reports, a team of doctors led by NIMS Director Rahul Dev provided the files requested by the investigating officials.
The ACB is also examining the roles of two prominent doctors who were responsible for the stores department during the period under investigation. The department reportedly handled large scale purchases, amid allegations of substantial financial irregularities.
Investigators suspect that corruption during the tenures of previous directors could involve hundreds of crores of rupees. However, the suspected amount has not been officially confirmed.

The latest searches follow the recent arrest of NIMS administrative superintendent Lakshmi Bhaskar by the ACB. Subsequently, officials searched the residences of five NIMS employees and conducted searches at the CIU office.
The state government has reportedly directed officials to eliminate corruption at NIMS. Accordingly, the ACB is examining procurement procedures and contracts to identify alleged irregularities.
The inspections are expected to continue on Friday as investigators examine additional records and documents related to the hospital’s tenders and contracts.
