Internet/Hyderabad, Nov 8 (Maxim News): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav should apologise to devotees and saints before visiting the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
Speaking at the ‘Aaj Tak Panchayat’ programme, Yogi referred to the police firing on kar sevaks during the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. He said Akhilesh should express remorse for those incidents before entering the temple.
The Samajwadi Party recently announced that Akhilesh Yadav and his wife, Dimple Yadav, would visit the Ram temple and Hanumangarhi temple on December 12, 2026.
Responding to the announcement, Yogi said leaders who had neglected Ayodhya and allegedly insulted Lord Ram’s devotees should first apologise to devotees and saints.
Yogi also indirectly criticised Akhilesh’s participation in a recent spiritual discourse programme in Ayodhya. He said some leaders lacked basic respect and etiquette during religious discourses.
Referring to earlier political statements questioning Lord Ram’s existence in court proceedings, Yogi said some leaders now describe accepting his existence as an ideological victory.
He maintained that Ayodhya was not a political issue for him but a symbol of faith. He said his government’s priorities included respecting devotees’ sentiments and developing Ayodhya under the guidance of saints.
Yogi also recalled the nearly 500-year struggle for the Ram temple. He said its construction became possible through the sacrifices of devotees, saints and kar sevaks.
