New York/Internet/Hyderabad, Nov 8 (Maxim News): A group of far-right activists disrupted Diwali celebrations in Seattle, United States, on Saturday. They carried anti-Hindu placards, including one demanding the deportation of people described as “dot heads”.
The protest was led by American activist Jake Lang, along with fellow activist Thomas Allen. They displayed placards reading “Deport All Dot Heads” and “Stop Hindu Replacement of Christians” during the celebrations.
The incident occurred at the Seattle Center Armory during a Diwali cultural event. Some attendees confronted the protesters and physically stopped their demonstration. The activists were subsequently escorted out of the venue.
Jake Lang Targets Hindus in Social Media Posts
After the incident, Lang shared photographs of the confrontation on his X account. He also posted abusive comments targeting Hindus.
Lang accused Hindus of helping Democrats turn Texas towards the Democratic Party. He also claimed that protesters and attendees had assaulted him during the confrontation.
Lang leads an organisation called White Replacement. He was involved in the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol and served four years in prison. US President Donald Trump pardoned him in January 2025, following his return to office.
Pramila Jayapal Condemns Anti-Hindu Demonstration
US Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal strongly condemned the protest. She said the incident was racist and that Hindu Americans should feel safe celebrating Diwali.
“I am beyond disgusted by this vile and racist display. Diwali is an important holiday and our community should feel safe to celebrate it. This hateful display has no place in our city or this country,” Jayapal said in a post on X.
The incident came shortly after President Donald Trump celebrated Diwali at the White House. He participated in a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony at the Oval Office.
