Another milestone for MANUU Becomes NCAA partner
Hyderabad, Aug 6 (Maxim News): Maulana Azad National Urdu University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National Cultural Audiovisual Archives (NCAA) at Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), Ministry of Culture, Govt of India for audiovisual materials systematic cataloging and digitization. It is a Historic step for MANUU’s digital outreach and Cultural promotion and Preservation.
Dr. M A Sikandar, Registrar, MANUU and the Project Manager, NCAA, Ministry of Culture have signed the MoU.
According to Mr. Rizwan Ahamd, Director, Instructional Media Centre, this MOU is great leap for MANUU outreach as the NCAA Project web portal has put MANUU’s effort on the national/international map.
The primary objective of the initiative is to assist governmental and non-governmental institutions in possession of significant cultural audiovisual materials with systematic cataloging and digitization of select materials.
Since its inception in 2014, NCAA has digitized approximately 15,000 hours of audiovisual materials from a total of 16 institutions across the country and is in the process of hosting the access-quality digitized output in the public domain on its web portal at http://ncaa.gov.in.
Instructional Media Centre has produced a large number of documentaries and other programmes dealing with Urdu Language and culture, Seminar, Workshop, Lectures accepted by NCAA.
NCAA partnering is good opportunity to reflect MANUU at a National Perspective as NCAA Project is the first national-level initiative of putting together an audiovisual archives of the country. Since NCAA is following international standards for metadata (cataloguing) and digitization, it would be an opportunity for MANUU to get its material digitized at international standards and all the programme produced will be safely produced for a longer duration.
