TRS Meeting Was An Utter Flop: Uttam

  • Calls for ‘KCR Hatao, Telangana Bachao’

Hyderabad, September 2 (Maxim News): Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has described the public meeting ‘Pragathi Nivedana Sabha’ organised by TRS at Kongar Kalan on Sunday evening as utter flop.

Addressing a press conference, along with other senior leaders including Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, V. Hanumantha Rao, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Balram Naik, A. Sampath Kumar and others, at his residence on Sunday night, the TPCC chief said that not only the meeting was a flop, but KCR’s speech was totally “phus” (dud). “The public meeting and KCR’s speech was totally contrary to the hype that was created around this event,” he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the meeting has proved to be “Praja Avedana Sabha”. He said that the Chief Minister had made several false statements during his speech. He did not mention what his government did for Dalits, Girijans, Muslims, BCs, Women, Students and Youth in the last four-and-a-half years compared to what was promised in the TRS manifesto. He said KCR gave clarity on double bed room houses, 12% reservation for Muslims and STs and other major electoral promises.

The TPCC Chief ridiculed KCR’s claim that he asked PM Modi “chestava or chastava (will you do this or die) seeking approval for new zonal system. “Why you did not speak in the same tone for 12% Muslim reservation? Why you did not pressurise the Centre seeking national project status for any project in the State?” he asked while adding that KCR’s claims of having such a talk with PM Modi were “Dongala Matalu” (lies).

Regarding KCR’s claim on energy situation, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the entire power being generated in Telangana today was due to the projects started by previous Congress regime. KCR should specify whether any power plant started by his government has generated even one unit of power. He only switched on the projects started by earlier Congress Government and falsely taking credit, he said.

The TPCC chief said KCR has skipped to mention anything on real issues. He said Mission Bhagirath was proved to be ‘Commission Bhagiratha’ where the ruling party leaders allegedly got 6% commissions on contracts. KCR had promised in the Assembly in 2014 that he would not seek votes if all households in Telangana do not get tap water in three years. However, this commitment remained unfulfilled and not even 10% of the houses, targetted by KCR Government are getting tapped water. He also accused KCR of making bogus claimed on one crore ayacut. KCR Government has created bogus DPRs and bogus ayacut for various projects, he alleged.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the credit of Telangana being the richest State goes to Congress party which ensured that entire revenues of Hyderabad come to Telangana at the time of bifurcation itself. KCR has only ruined the State’s economy and shattered people’s dream. “Today Telangana is number one in farmers’ suicides, liquor consumption, debts and corruption,” he said.

Reaction to KCR’s promise of increasing the pension amount, he said that KCR was only responding to the announcement made by the Congress party of doubling the pension amount. Therefore, the increase in pension amount will be considered as Congress achievement. He also slammed KCR for describing 95% reservation for locals in jobs as his achievement. He said the remaining 5% candidates too are from Telangana. KCR is posing as if he brought 95% reservation for locals in private sector, he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy questioned KCR’s silence on his failure to fill vacancies. KCR also did not speak about closure of over 5,000 SMEs in the last four years, especially after demonitisation.

He slammed KCR for calling people approaching the court as anti-development. “You are not doing justice. You are violating the law. You have turned the State into ‘Police Rajyam’. What is the wrong if the victims are going to courts seeking justice? Are courts banned institutions?” he asked while adding that such remarks does not suit a person who is holding the post of Chief Minister.

With regard to minorities’ welfare, Uttam Kumar Reddy said KCR did not specify when 12% Muslim reservation would be implemented. He reminded that KCR, in his speech on 19th April 2014, had promised to implement 12% Muslim quota within four months after coming to power. But he did nothing in the last four-and-a-half years. “KCR had promised to fight with the Centre, hold a dharna in Delhi, approach the Supreme Court and even warned of an earthquake if Centre does not approve 12% reservation for Muslims. People are still waiting for that earthquake to occur,” he said.

He described KCR as “Modi’s chamcha” and said he had failed to get any benefits from the Centre which were promised in the AP Reorganisation Bill.

Uttam Kumar Reddy accused the TRS of resorting brutal and criminal display of wealth. He said no other party in history might have wasted so much of public money and resources for political gains. “The managements of private schools and colleges were forced to give their buses. Brake and Vehicle Inspectors were used to threaten the school managements. All laws were broken by the TRS for this meeting,” he said while slamming the KCR Government for misusing RTC buses. “Does KCR treat Telangana as his jagir. A majority of buses were taken away for the public meeting, leaving no transportation facility for common people. It was a criminal move,” he said.

The TPCC chief also slammed the GHMC for allowing TRS to deface the city with pink flags and hoardings. He said the GHMC officials have removed the flexies and banners of Congress party during AICC President Rahul Gandhi’s visit. But for TRS meeting, Minister K. Tarakarama Rao himself violated all the rules. “GHMC authorities should stop acting in a partisan manner. We are noting down everything and will definitely react when Congress comes to power in next elections,” he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said it was strange that the Income Tax and Enforcement Departments, who chase small persons, failed to act against TRS leaders who had spent over Rs. 300 crore on the public meeting. Why the IT and ED officials are reluctant to probe the sources of funds used for TRS meeting. “Are KCR or KTR doing any business? If not, then how they mobilised hundreds of crores for the event?” he asked. (Maxim News)
