BJP Activists Taken Into Custody For Protesting Near Telangana Assembly
They were protesting against the relaxation in the two children norm for candidates contesting during the forthcoming GHMC elections.
Hyderabad: Scores of activists of the Bharatiya Janata Party and affiliated organisations were taken into preventive custody when they tried to lay siege to the Legislative Assembly here on Tuesday morning.
They were protesting against the relaxation in the two children norm for candidates contesting during the forthcoming GHMC elections.
The party workers had gathered near Gun Park and near the legislative building complex in small batches since morning. The police prevented them from reaching the assembly complex and shifted them to the Goshamahal police stadium and other police stations. So far, around 200 BJP and affiliated organisation workers were taken into custody.
This apart, the Communist Party of India has also given a ‘Chalo Assembly’ call. The private teachers and lecturers organisations too are protesting near the Assembly.
The police have made elaborate security arrangements in and around the assembly. Teams of the City Rapid Action Force, Commissioner’s Task Force and the City Armed Reserve Police along with the local police have been deployed.
