Will Decide on My Future Plans Soon: Eatala
Rajender, who is expected to join the BJP, said the decision to resign was taken after consulting the cadres in his constituency and other leaders in Hyderabad
Hyderabad, June 6: Former Minister Eatala Rajender, who resigned from the State Assembly and primary membership of TRS on Friday, said he would decide on the future course of action pertaining to his political career soon.
Rajender, who is expected to join the BJP, said the decision to resign was taken after consulting the cadres in his constituency and other leaders in Hyderabad.
On Monday, Rajender met BJP national president JP Nadda at his residence in New Delhi. Former MP G Vivek accompanied Rajender and former MLA Enugu Ravinder Reddy to Nadda’s residence. They met Nadda in the presence of BJP Telangana in-charge Tarun Chugh and State president Bandi Sanjay Kumar.
“I have the support of the people of Telangana,” Rajender claimed, at the press conference he held at his Shamirpet residence after his return from New Delhi.
Recalling his association with TRS for the last 19 years, he said he along with other leaders, during the statehood movement, did not accept the offer of special package for Telangana by several Congress leaders from Seemandhra. “We categorically told the Congress leaders that self-respect was important for us and that there was no question of withdrawing from the movement. This was our commitment during the Telangana movement,” he said.
“Statehood was achieved with the continuous fight carried out by several leaders and protagonists of Telangana during the movement in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh,” Rajender, who represented Huzurnagar Assembly constituency, said. He also recalled how he took part in Million March and other demonstrations organised to press for the statehood demand during Congress rule in united AP.
