Former MP Vivek Slams Govt
Hyderabad, Sept.25 (Maxim News): Former MP and BJP leader Vivek Venkataswami today alleged that the State government had redesigned Kaleswaram lift irrigation project only with the intention to earn commissions .
He made the remarks during his meeting with the governor of the State Tamilisai Soundararajan along with the affected members of Kaleswaram back water.
Speaking on the Occasion, He told the governor that thousands of acres of land were being damaged due to the back waters of the Kaleswaram project for the last three years.
He told the governor a young farmer by name Rajesh from Chennur committed suicide following inundation of his standing crop.
Speaking to media persons later, he said that two farmers committed suicide last year.
He alleged that the TRS led state government had increased the project cost from ₹36000 crore to ₹1 lakh crore only to earn commissions in the name of redesigning of the Kaleswaram project .
He said that they had urged the governor to order an inquiry into the irregularities committed in the construction of the Kaleswaram project.
He said that the water that has reached Mallanna Sagar was not the water from the Kaleswaram project but the water from the Sriram Sagar irrigation project.
He demanded the state government to come to the rescue of the farmers, who have sustained losses due to the Kaleswaram back water and demanded the state government to give ₹50,000 per acre as compensation to them.
Targeting rival party MLA Balka Suman, he alleged that Suman was trying to grab the lands belonging to the farmers of Chennur. (Maxim News)
