Five Day Yellow Alert for Hyderabad City

Hyderabad, Dec. 21: Night temperatures were recorded below normal for the fourth day on the trot in the city. The lowest minimum temperature of 11.2 degrees Celsius was recorded at Patancheru in the early hours of Monday. The overall minimum temperature of Hyderabad was 13.5 degrees Celsius, which is at least three degrees less than normal.

Many other parts of the city shivered as the temperature dropped below 13 degrees Celsius on Sunday night. Localities including Rajendranagar, Secunderabad, Hayathnagar and Serilingampally recorded the lowest temperatures in the city. The Indian Meteorological Department, Hyderabad, has issued a five-day yellow warning for the city. According to the IMD forecast, the minimum temperature in the city is likely to range from 11 degrees Celsius to 15 degrees Celsius and might dip further at isolated places, for the next couple of days.

Meanwhile, several districts of Telangana are also facing a cold wave-like situation, with temperatures falling below 10 degrees Celsius at night. The lowest minimum temperature of 6 degrees Celsius was recorded at Kumram Bheem Asifabad on Monday. Other districts that recorded single-digit night temperatures were Adilabad, Mancherial, Rangareddy, Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Rajanna Sircilla, Kamareddy and Jagtial.

According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society, the night temperature in a few districts including Nirmal, Mulugu, Mancherial, Peddapalli and Nizamabad, might range from 5 degrees Celsius to 10 degrees Celsius for the next two days.
