CM KCR Mourns demise of Lata Mangeshkar

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao mourned the demise of renowned playback singer Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar. He conveyed his deepest condolences to the family members of the legendary singer. He lamented that with the demise of Lata Mangeshkar, the Indian film music has gone silent and an era has come to an end.

The Chief Minister said that her song had left an indelible mark on the Indian film music scene for eight decades and that her death was an irreparable loss to Indian cinema, music and scores of music lovers. He stated that she was a God’s gift to Indian music and people got an opportunity to listen to her heavenly voice.

“Lata ji sung over 50,000 songs in more than 1,000 films in 20 languages, serving as a bridge between the North and the South Indian music. Her breathed life into roles of numerous actresses on screen, through her singing,” he said. He recalled that the producers would start film shooting after obtaining the dates of Lata Mangeshkar earlier. He said she had become synonymous with Indian film songs.

Chandrashekhar Rao said Lataji, who learned Hindustani traditional music from Ustad Amant Ali Khan and studied the literature of Urdu poets, only to bring to life the elegance of ghazal notes in Urdu through her voice. He stated that while many people are honoured with the awards, she brought honour to countless awards that she received from various of the world throughout her lifetime.
