Give government jobs to kin of farmers who died: demands BJP’s Gudur

Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party state senior leader Gudur Narayana Reddy on Saturday demanded Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao to provide government jobs to eligible from the families of farmers who have died and committed suicides, if he really has love and affection towards the farmers.

In a media statement, he said that the chief secretary has suggested collector of Warangal to provide government job to brother of Rakesh, who died in police firing in Secunderabad Railway Station recently, on the directions of the Chief Minister.

“In the same way the Chief Minister should provide government jobs to the eligible in the families of farmers who have died due to heart failures and committed suicides on compassionate grounds if he really has love and affections towards the farmers,” he said.

He said that the number of deaths of the farmers was rising day by day due to the apathy of the state government. He said that according to information provided by the government about 67,699 farmers have died due to various reasons, including suicides in the past three years.

He said that since the formation of Telangana nearly 7,409 farmers have committed suicides in the state. He said that out of them only 1500 have been recognized and were provided with financial aid.

He said that though the Telangana government has introduced Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima schemes for the benefit of the farmers there is no abatement in the deaths due to suicides and heart failures due to agriculture related losses.

He informed that several farmers were taking their own lives by consuming poison or by hanging due to agriculture related losses. Number of families have lost earning father, or son or husband and they are under utter distress.

However the government did not show any sympathy towards these families and left them to their own fate. He said that most of the families of farmers who have committed suicides did not get the compensation of Rs 6 lakhs.

He said that the bereaved families were finding it difficult to eke out life and they should be protected immediately. He said the only solution to save those families from the travails is to provide government job to the eligible in those families.

Narayana Reddy alleged that the government has turned a blind eye towards these families and it has taken no notice of the plights of those families. “I request the Chief Minister to open his eyes and should see the problems of those families,” he said.

Reddy said that the government has been trying for eye wash by providing compensation here and there. The Chief Minister has been trying to pose as a hero with these token aids. In fact he is a big zero in ruling the state, Narayana Reddy added.

He asked the Chief Minister to get the list of all the farmers who died since the inception of Telangana and provide jobs to the kin of the farmers who have died on compassionate or on any other ground.

The leader said that if the collectors were unable to provide information of died farmers, the BJP would provide such list. He made it clear that the government should see the deaths of farmers from humanitarian angle and should come to their rescue at the earliest. (Maxim News)
