Hyderabad, July 15 (Maxim News): Congress MP N. Uttam Kumar Reddy demanded that the State Government immediately release Fee Reimbursement dues of Rs. 3,270 crores pertaining to nearly 12 lakh students of Telangana State.
He was addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan along with TPCC Campaign Committee Chairman Madhu Yashki Goud, Disciplinary Committee Chairman Dr G. Chinna Reddy, Working President Dr J. Geetha Reddy, Senior Vice President Zafar Javeed, official spokesperson Sudhir Reddy and D. Bhaskar Reddy.
Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that TRS Govt has ruined the entire education sector in Telangana ever since it came to power in 2014. He said the TRS Govt did not release any amount towards Fee Reimbursement from 2020-21. There were dues of Rs. 828 Crore in 2020-21 while not a single rupee has been released for the academic years 2021-22 and 2022-23. He said that the State Govt owes Rs. 3,270 crores to private colleges towards the Fee Reimbursement of over 12 lakh students of nearly 3,600 junior, engineering, degree, pharmacy, and other professional and non-professional colleges.
The Congress MP alleged that more than 850 Junior Colleges, 350 Degree Colleges, 150 PG colleges and hundreds of engineering, pharmacy, and vocational colleges have shut down their operations since 2014. “Students are neither getting Scholarship nor Tuition Fee for the last two years. Many SC, ST, BC, Minority, and EBC students are unable to pursue higher studies.
With the State Govt not clearing Fee Reimbursement dues, managements are unable to run their institutions. Consequently, about 20-30% have already dropped out from higher studies,” he said.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that before 2014, under the Congress regime, College managements were never required to seek release of funds. (Maxim News)
