Rise In Covid Cases: Centre Alerts these 7 States

New Delhi: Covid Cases, The central government has instructed Delhi and six states to ensure adequate testing, promote COVID-appropriate behaviour, and speed up vaccination to manage the surge in coronavirus infections that have been reported in various regions of the country.

Rajesh Bhushan, the union health secretary, wrote to the states of Delhi, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana to warn them about impending celebrations and large gatherings that could potentially spread infectious diseases like COVID-19.

While maintaining the necessary share of RT-PCR and antigen tests, it is crucial to make sure that appropriate testing is conducted in all of the state’s districts.

In the letter dated August 5, he emphasised that in order to stop the spread of infection and ensure efficient case treatment, the state must also actively monitor districts reporting greater cases, positive rates, and clusters.

Bhushan said in his letter to Delhi that the national capital had been reporting a high number of new cases on average per day (811 cases) throughout the previous month, with a high of 2.202 new cases on August 5.

In the week ending August 5, Delhi contributed 8.2% of all new cases reported weekly in India. Additionally, Delhi’s average daily new cases increased by 1.86 times, from 802 in the week ending July 29 to 1,492 in the following week.

Delhi also experienced a rise in the weekly optimism rate, which went from 5.90% the week ending July 29 to 9.86% the following week.

Bhushan said Kerala reported 2,347 average cases per day in the past month and Maharashtra 2,135 cases. He also cited district-wise spread of infection.

He asked that states guarantee effective adherence to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s new COVID-19 surveillance policy.

“In order to identify early warning signs of the spread of infection, it is critical to regularly monitor and report district-level influenza-like illness (ILI) and SARI cases in all healthcare facilities in accordance with the guidelines. This is because there have been some changes in the symptoms and clinical manifestation of the disease. This will allow us to take preventative action in any areas of concern, if necessary “added he.

Bhushan emphasised the necessity of prompt delivery of such samples by the states and union territories to the designated lab of the INSACOG network for genome sequencing, stressing the importance of both the genome sequencing of prescribed samples of international passengers as well as the collection of samples from sentinel sites and local clusters of new COVID-19 cases.

“Covid-appropriate behaviour needs to be ensured in crowded settings like marketplaces, interstate bus stops, schools, colleges, train stations, etc.,” he stated.

“States should strive to speed up the administration of free precaution doses for eligible population 18+ at all Government COVID Vaccination Centers (CVCs) under the ‘COVID Vaccination Amrit Mahotsav’ until September 30,” he said.

States were urged to carefully implement the test-track-treat-vaccinate five-step method and to uphold Covid-appropriate community behaviour.
