BIS Seized Spurious | Hyderabad, Dec 13 (Maxim News): The Bureau of Indian Standards, Hyderabad of has conducted searches on a trader at Dammaiguda, Medchal Malkajgiri district of Telangana here on Tuesday.

Who was dealing with huge quantity of Marine Plywood and block Boards with Spurious BIS standard mark and seized 180 plywood and block boards with various brand names having spurious BIS Standard mark.

The seized material are having expired/fake BIS license numbers, action has been initiated against the offender under Section 29 of BIS Act-2016. The office is punishable by imposing maximum fine upto Rs. 5 lakh or two years imprisonment or both.

BIS licence is given to the manufacturing units only after thorough scrutiny of their manufacturing and testing facilities and conformity of product to the relevant Indian Standards.
