Hyderabad, April 17, 2026: In an unusually sharp and no-holds-barred attack, Telangana Youth Congress State General Secretary Almas Khan came down heavily on BJP MP Tejasvi Surya for his remarks in Parliament during the Delimitation Bill debate, calling them “not just offensive, but a shameless display of ignorance and arrogance.”
Almas Khan slammed Surya for equating the formation of Telangana with the Partition of India, terming it “a disgraceful and intellectually bankrupt comparison that insults the sacrifices of over 1,200 martyrs and lakhs of people.” He asserted that Telangana’s statehood was achieved through a constitutional and democratic struggle under Article 3, and said Surya’s remarks expose a “dangerous mix of half-baked knowledge and reckless entitlement.”

Escalating his criticism, Khan described Surya as a “serial headline-hunter who thrives on provocation rather than substance,” alleging that his political career has been consistently tainted by controversies, irresponsible statements, and divisive conduct. “This is not a one-off slip. This is a pattern of behavior from someone who repeatedly chooses sensationalism over sense and insult over insight,” Khan stated.
He further mocked Surya’s clarification as a “predictable retreat after a loud and careless outburst,” adding that “such cosmetic damage control cannot undo the insult inflicted on Telangana’s identity and history.” Khan accused the BJP MP of distorting facts for political mileage and said his conduct reflects a “complete lack of maturity, responsibility, and respect for parliamentary dignity.”
Demanding accountability, Almas Khan called for an immediate and unconditional apology from Surya to the people of Telangana and the families of martyrs. He also urged that the remarks be expunged from Parliamentary records and that strict action be taken to uphold the sanctity of democratic institutions.
Reaffirming support for the state leadership under Revanth Reddy, Khan said Telangana will not tolerate “reckless, ill-informed, and deeply disrespectful narratives,” and will continue to stand united in defense of its history, dignity, and sacrifices.
