Mumbai, July 18: Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has reportedly received a threat through a Facebook post allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. However, the Mumbai Police said no formal complaint has been filed by the actor or his team.
Police said they became aware of the alleged threat through media reports and are verifying the authenticity of the viral social media post before initiating further action.
According to reports, the Facebook post, allegedly shared by individuals claiming links to the Lawrence Bishnoi group, contained threatening remarks against Aamir Khan and accused him of promoting “love jihad.”
Mumbai Police clarified that neither Aamir Khan nor his representatives have approached them with a complaint. Officials said an investigation will begin once a formal complaint is received and the authenticity of the post is established.
Meanwhile, Aamir Khan also addressed speculation surrounding his 2009 film 3 Idiots during the ongoing London Indian Film Festival.
Responding to a question from the audience, the actor said his character Phunsukh Wangdu was not based on educationist and climate activist Sonam Wangchuk.
Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, 3 Idiots stars Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan and Sharman Joshi in lead roles, with Kareena Kapoor, Boman Irani, Mona Singh and Omi Vaidya in supporting roles. The film follows the journey of three engineering students and offers a satirical take on India’s education system. (Maxim News)
