Hyderabad, July 18: Several BRS leaders were placed under house arrest on Saturday ahead of the party’s Yuva Sangrama Sabha at Saroornagar, despite the Telangana High Court permitting the event under certain conditions.
Former Minister Sabita Indra Reddy was placed under house arrest at her residence in Hyderabad. BRS General Secretary R.S. Praveen Kumar was also confined to his residence by the police.
BRS leaders criticised the police action, stating that the house arrests were imposed even after the High Court granted conditional permission for the Yuva Sangrama Sabha.
The party leaders said they would continue to raise issues concerning unemployed youth despite what they described as repeated attempts by the government to prevent their protest.
They demanded that the State government stop detaining party leaders and fulfil its promise of providing two lakh jobs.
The BRS also alleged that the Congress government was taking credit for appointment letters related to recruitment notifications issued during the previous BRS government led by K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR). (Maxim News)
