According to officials, an ACB team led by ACB Khammam range DSP Y Ramesh carried out the operation. Thati Sravani had been absconding since the case was registered on January 3. She was the main accused in the matter. Investigators said she went into hiding soon after the ACB action began in the district. Therefore, the bureau kept a close watch on her movements across locations.

The case relates to an alleged demand of Rs 3.51 lakh as bribe. Officials stated that the amount was sought for approving the complainants bills. These bills were linked to the cutting of approximately 3900 tonnes of eucalyptus trees at a plantation. The plantation falls under the Telangana Forest Development Corporation in the Kothagudem area. Meanwhile, the ACB registered the case after receiving a complaint about the alleged demand.

During the earlier phase of the investigation, ACB officials caught two other accused red handed. They arrested Thadi Rajendra Kumar, plantation manager of the Kothagudem forest sub division. They also caught a private person, Chennam Gopala Krishna. The arrests took place at Gopala Krishna residence. Officials said the duo accepted the bribe on behalf of Thati Sravani. At that time, she was not present and had already gone into hiding.

After the arrests, the ACB continued efforts to locate the divisional manager. Officials maintained surveillance and tracked her movements. Later, they traced her presence in Visakhapatnam. The team then moved swiftly and took her into custody. Officials said the accused officer reportedly tried to obtain anticipatory bail to avoid arrest. However, she could not secure relief.
