Emphasising the importance of sports in students’ lives, he stated that education must be complemented by physical activity. He urged youngsters to move away from excessive television and social media usage and spend more time on playgrounds. Sports, he noted, not only build physical fitness but also instil discipline and team spirit. Cricket, he said, remains the one sport that brings people together across the country and enjoys unmatched popularity.

He said he had been watching Narsimha Reddy’s involvement in cricket for the past two decades and expressed happiness that his son Ranjith is emerging as a promising player. Recalling his tenure as President of the Hyderabad Cricket Association, he said efforts were made to develop cricket grounds in the city’s surrounding areas and promote the sport in remote regions as well. He also mentioned that cricket matches were recently organised in the name of Kaka Venkatswamy.

He further stated that a cricket ground had also been established in his native area of Moinabad, which has been receiving a positive response from young players. Sharing his personal memories, he recalled travelling by scooter to play cricket during his days at Osmania Medical College. He opined that making good coaching facilities accessible in rural areas would help bring out hidden talent.
