Adilabad/Hyderabad, Sept 2 (Maxim News): An inter-state cyber fraudster from Rajasthan was arrested on charges of duping a trader of the district and several others across the country under the pretext of selling spare parts of mobile phones on Instagram. Police seized a mobile phone and cash of Rs 1 lakh from him.
Briefing details of the arrest to media persons here on Wednesday, SP Akhil Mahajan said that Prakash Kumar, a mobile phone trader from Jalore district was apprehended for duping Sameer Syed of Echoda.
On being interrogated, Prakash Kumar admitted to duping the gullible traders and public by promising to sell displays, chargers and accessories at cheaper prices by creating a page on Instagram. He duped the traders by not sending the parts after collecting the cost, Akhil informed.
Police said that Prakash had cheated 140 people from several parts of the country by extracting Rs 5.30 crore by promising to send the parts through a fake courier. Sameer placed an order to purchase the spare parts paying Rs 18,000. He approached the police after he did not receive consignment as promised by Prakash.
