Afghan Forces Kill 55 Pakistani Soldiers

Hyderabad: Afghan forces killed at least 55 Pakistani soldiers and captured two military bases along with 19 posts in retaliatory strikes along the Pakistan Afghanistan border. The Afghan Ministry of National Defence confirmed the development on Friday. The attacks mark a sharp escalation in tensions across the Durand Line.

The counter attacks followed Pakistan strikes on Afghan territory, which reportedly killed women and children. According to the Ministry, Afghan forces launched the operation on Thursday night. They targeted Pakistani military posts in the east and southeast directions across the border. The Ministry said the operation lasted four hours.

Retaliatory Strikes Across Durand Line Intensify Border Tensions

During the operation, Afghan forces destroyed two Pakistani military bases and 19 posts. Meanwhile, soldiers fled from four additional posts. The Ministry stated that 55 Pakistani soldiers were killed. It also said several others were captured alive, while many managed to escape.

“In these operations, dozens of light and heavy weapons, ammunition, and military supplies were seized by Afghan forces. Additionally, an enemy tank was destroyed, and a large military transport vehicle was captured,” the Ministry stated. The Ministry further confirmed that 8 Afghan soldiers were killed and 11 others were injured during the operation.

Taliban Warns Pakistan After Airstrikes

At the same time, the Ministry reported that 13 Afghan civilian citizens, including women and children, were injured in a missile attack by Pakistani forces on a refugee camp in the Afghan province of Nangarhar. The developments have further strained relations between the two sides.

The Taliban recently condemned Pakistan airstrikes on Afghanistan. It termed the action a “shameful act” and warned of a military response. In an interview with Al Arabiya English, Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said, “Naturally, it would be a military response, but its details are confidential, and I cannot explain further. Pakistan must receive a response for its shameful act.” The situation along the Pakistan Afghanistan border remains tense.
