Hyderabad: Afghan Pakistan border tensions have sharply escalated amid claims that Afghan forces shot down a Pakistani F 16 fighter jet after airstrikes. According to Afghan claims, the fighter jet entered Afghan airspace during the strikes. Afghan sources stated that their forces retaliated and brought down the aircraft. A video related to the incident is going viral on social media. The footage shows burning wreckage of a plane. It is being circulated that the plane’s number is 85610 and that it belongs to the Pakistani army. However, there is no official confirmation whether the video is real.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has responded to these allegations. Islamabad clarified that it carried out attacks on terrorist camps. However, it denied losing any aircraft during the operation. Pakistan stated that none of its jets were shot down. Therefore, both sides are presenting conflicting versions of the events.

Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif also reacted strongly. He said that Afghanistan is providing shelter to terrorists. He further stated that Afghanistan is declaring open war on Pakistan. These remarks have added to the rising tensions between the two countries.

On the other hand, the Afghan Defence Ministry claimed that 55 Pakistani soldiers were killed in retaliatory attacks. In contrast, Pakistani media reported that the Taliban suffered heavy losses in an operation named Ghazab lil haq. Thus, both sides have made serious claims about casualties and damage.
