Hyderabad, Oct. 25: The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) is seeking to expand its political presence in Andhra Pradesh by contesting municipal elections with 21 candidates across six municipalities. The party is also targeting key civic positions, including the Mayor’s post in Kadapa and the municipal chairperson’s post in Hindupur.

Nampally MLA Majid Hussain campaigned in Anantapur, Penukonda and Hindupur on October 21 before visiting Vijayawada the following day. Yakutpura MLA Jaffer Hussain Meraj was assigned campaigning responsibilities in Nandyal, Penukonda and Hindupur.

Bahadurpura MLA Mohammed Mubeen was deployed in Kadapa to campaign for the party’s mayoral candidate, while Malakpet MLA Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala was assigned to Adoni.

AIMIM has also campaigned in places such as Madanapalle, where it is not contesting, to improve its visibility and strengthen its organisational network ahead of future elections.

The municipal polls will test AIMIM’s ability to expand its political influence in Andhra Pradesh. The results are expected to help the party assess its local support and shape its strategy for the next Assembly elections.
