The 76th Republic Day was celebrated spectacularly at Alva’s Education Foundation, with over 30,000 students and audience members to mark the occasion in Moodbidri. The open-air theatre, Vanajakshi K Sripati Bhat, was transformed into a vibrant celebration of unity, patriotism, and cultural diversity, featuring tricolor-themed pillars, patriotic decorations, and resonant renditions of Jana Gana Mana, Vande Mataram, and Koti Kantho Se.

Flag Hoisting and Tribute to the Constitution

Karnataka Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti led the flag-hoisting ceremony and emphasized the significance of upholding constitutional rights and duties. “Republic Day at Alva’s is not just a national celebration; it is a historic moment of unity and reflection,” Horatti remarked. He paid tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar for his pivotal role in drafting the Indian Constitution and stressed the importance of respecting it as the supreme law of the land. Horatti urged everyone to live by the Constitution’s ideals of equality, freedom, and fundamental rights, even as the country advances in science and technology.

Large-Scale Participation

The event also saw the participation of various dignitaries, including Alva’s Education Foundation chairman Dr. M. Mohan Alva, Bharat Scouts and Guides Karnataka State Chief Commissioner P.G.R. Scindia, former minister K. Abhay Chandra Jain, entrepreneur Mustafa, and Alva’s management trustees Vivek Alva and Dr. Vinay Alva. Over 300 retired and serving soldiers, along with 2,170 Cubs, Bulbuls, Scouts, Guides, Rovers, Rangers, and NCC cadets, were actively involved in the celebration.

Cultural Programs and Student Contributions

The event commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag, followed by the singing of the National Anthem, which set a tone of reverence and patriotism. The students took part in various cultural performances, showcasing their talents through folk dances, skits, and musical renditions that highlighted India’s rich cultural heritage. A special tableau parade, featuring historical milestones and modern achievements, captivated the audience, adding an extra layer of excitement to the proceedings.

Ahead of the event, the Foundation organized essay writing, painting, and quiz competitions focused on the theme of Republic Day. The winners were felicitated during the ceremony. Additionally, a mass pledge by the students reaffirmed their commitment to nation-building and upholding ethical values, reinforcing the sense of collective responsibility and national pride.
