Amangal Municipality Chairmanship Row Sparks Anger
Hyderabad: Tension gripped Amangal after allegations surfaced that Congress and BJP formed an illegal alliance to seize the Amangal Municipality chairmanship. The controversy began after claims that the Congress party, which won only one ward, may be given the chairman’s post.
The development has triggered anger among people in Amangal. The dispute centers on the chairmanship in Rangareddy district. The BRS party, which won the highest number of wards, now faces the risk of losing power.
BRS wins 8 wards but faces loss in Amangal Municipality
Out of a total of 15 wards in Amangal Municipality, the BRS party won 8 wards. Meanwhile, BJP secured 6 wards. Congress was limited to just one ward. In fairness, the chairmanship of the Amangal Municipality should have gone to the BRS party.
However, to prevent BRS from coming to power, Congress and BJP allegedly formed an illegal alliance. The Congress party has two ex officio votes in the form of Kalwakurthy MLA Kasireddy Narayana Reddy and Nagarkurnool MP Mallu Ravi. Therefore, the number of Congress votes increases to 3. If six BJP councilors are added, the total reaches 9.
Congress BJP alliance may block BRS from chairman post
With nine votes, BRS, which has 8 councilors, will lose power. As a result, the alliance between the two rival parties has drawn criticism. Many allege that Congress and BJP conspired to snatch power with the help of ex officio votes.
BJP, despite having six councilors, reportedly agreed to give up the chairman’s post to Congress, which has only one councilor. It has acted as if it will get the vice chairman’s post. Therefore, many are criticizing this illegal alliance between the two rival parties. They claim it was done with the intention of ensuring that BRS does not get the chairman’s post.
The political developments in Amangal Municipality have sparked debate. Meanwhile, the chairmanship issue continues to fuel anger among sections of the public.
