Yedulapuram Municipal Chairperson Anita Elected

Hyderabad: Anitha Pokabathini was elected as the Yedulapuram Municipal Chairperson on Monday during the oath taking ceremony and election process held at the Khammam Rural MPDO office. The event also saw the swearing in of 32 ward councilors and the election of the Vice Chairman.

The ceremony took place under the supervision of District Additional Collector K. Srinivas Reddy and Yedulapuram Municipality Commissioner Munwar Ali. First, officials administered the oath to all 32 ward councilors. Later, authorities began the process to elect the Chairperson and Vice Chairman.

The election of the Yedulapuram Municipal Chairperson began after a single set of nominations was filed. Subsequently, the councilors elected 23rd Ward Councilor Pokabattini Anita as the Chairperson. Meanwhile, the majority of members elected 14th Ward Councilor Tammineni Naveen as the Vice Chairman.

Soon after the election, the first council meeting was held. Officials ensured that the proceedings remained smooth and orderly. Therefore, authorities put special focus on maintaining discipline during the ceremony.

Heavy security deployed for chairperson election

To prevent any irregularities in the oath taking of the Chairperson and Vice Chairman, police deployed heavy security. Officers worked under the leadership of Khammam Rural Police Station CI Muskaraj. They made strong arrangements to ensure that there was no disruption to law and order.

Ward councilors from the BRS and CPM alliance, including Perumallapally Mariamma, Morimekala Satyanarayana, Haimavathi and Mallaiah, arrived first. Later, Congress party ward councilors attended the ceremony. Then, three ward councilors and an independent candidate also took part in the oath taking.

The election process concluded peacefully. As a result, Anitha Pokabathini assumed charge as the Yedulapuram Municipal Chairperson, while Tammineni Naveen took office as Vice Chairman.
