Hyderabad, April 14 (Maxim News): Working President of BRS K.Tarak Rama Rao launched a sharp attack on the Indian National Congress, alleging that the iconic Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Statue was “restricted” and neglected under the current government.
KTR, along with party MLAs, MLCs, and senior leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, visited the 125-foot statue at Hussain Sagar and paid floral tributes. Party cadres raised slogans, recalling Ambedkar’s ideals during the event.
Speaking to the media, KTR said the statue—one of the tallest of B. R. Ambedkar in the world—was established as a prestigious project by former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. He added that Ambedkar’s philosophy of “Educate, Organise, Agitate” inspired the Telangana movement.
He further stated that the previous BRS government worked towards Dalit welfare by setting up over 1,000 Gurukul schools and naming the State Secretariat after Ambedkar. “Respect for Ambedkar should reflect in actions, not just words,” he remarked.
KTR alleged that since 2024, the Congress government had effectively turned the statue into a restricted space. He claimed that only after BRS issued a warning 14 days ago did the government begin organising official events at the site.
He also criticised the Congress for failing to fulfil its promises to Dalits. Referring to financial assistance schemes, he said while the BRS government provided ₹10 lakh support to Dalit families, the Congress had promised ₹12 lakh but failed to deliver.
KTR asserted that the party’s struggle would continue until the government implements its SC, ST, BC, and farmers’ declarations.
After the tribute, KTR and other leaders visited the museum located beneath the statue. They observed exhibits showcasing Ambedkar’s life and contributions. A large number of party leaders and workers attended the programme. (Maxim News)
