The launch ceremony will witness the presence of members of the drafting committee, Chairmen and Managing Directors of National Cooperative Unions, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Cooperation, National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC), National Council of Cooperative Training (NCCT), and Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management (VAMNICOM).

The National Cooperative Policy 2025 aims to serve as a blueprint for modernizing and empowering India’s cooperative movement from 2025 to 2045, aligning with the national goal of “Viksit Bharat 2047.” Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the stewardship of Amit Shah, the policy is expected to transform cooperative institutions into inclusive, professionally managed, and future-ready bodies that can generate large-scale employment and rural prosperity.

The need for a new policy arose as the previous National Cooperative Policy of 2002 became outdated due to rapid globalization and technological advances. The new framework will take into account two decades of socio-economic shifts and aims to strengthen the cooperative ecosystem, especially at the grassroots.

A 48-member national-level committee, headed by former Union Minister Shri Suresh Prabhu, was entrusted with drafting the policy. The committee included experts from cooperative societies across levels and sectors, academic institutions, and government bodies. The drafting process involved 17 meetings and four regional workshops in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Gurugram, and Patna, gathering 648 suggestions from stakeholders to ensure an inclusive and participatory policy design.
