Amjed Ullah Khan Condemns Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Over Hijab Incident
Hyderabad, Dec. 18 (Maxim News): Amjed Ullah Khan, Spokesperson of the Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT), has strongly condemned Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over an alleged incident in which a Muslim woman doctor’s niqab was reportedly pulled when she visited to collect her appointment letter two days ago. Khan described the act as “ghastly and deeply hurtful,” stating that it caused pain not only to Muslims but also to many secular-minded citizens across communities.
In a detailed statement, Khan said he initially remained silent to observe the response of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leadership in Bihar, including party chief Asaduddin Owaisi, Bihar AIMIM floor leader Akhtarul Iman, and the party’s MLAs. However, he expressed disappointment over what he termed their continued silence on the issue.
Khan alleged that AIMIM’s political strategy in Bihar indirectly helped the formation of the JD(U)-BJP government and questioned why the party leadership has not spoken out against Nitish Kumar over the incident. He sarcastically remarked that those hurt by the Chief Minister’s action should “congratulate” Asaduddin Owaisi for contributing to a political situation where such incidents occur, holding AIMIM morally responsible for the consequences faced by the Muslim community.
Highlighting political developments, Khan pointed out that Akhtarul Iman was appointed Chairman of the Minority Affairs Committee of the Bihar Legislative Assembly, a post carrying cabinet rank, despite the position traditionally going to the opposition. He claimed that the RJD had proposed another name for the role, but Nitish Kumar chose Akhtarul Iman instead, suggesting that AIMIM leaders were gaining personal political benefits while the community at large suffered.
Khan further alleged that bulldozer actions against Muslim properties were taking place at several locations in Bihar, warning that the situation for Muslims in the state could deteriorate further, similar to what has been witnessed in Uttar Pradesh.
Expressing concern over the lack of reaction from AIMIM leaders, Khan questioned why Asaduddin Owaisi, who often comments swiftly on smaller incidents at the national level, remained silent on this matter. He also criticized the silence of Akhtarul Iman and AIMIM’s MLAs, stating that as Bihar representatives, they should have raised their voices immediately.
On behalf of the Majlis Bachao Tehreek, Khan strongly condemned the alleged act by the Chief Minister and demanded a public apology from Nitish Kumar. He also appealed to Muslim opposition leaders in Bihar to file a police complaint over the incident. If the police fail to register a case, he urges them to approach the Bihar High Court through a private complaint to seek justice. (Maxim News)
