- Ardeshir Irani Media Studio opens at MANUU campus
- Vice Chancellor highlights interdisciplinary media education
Hyderabad: MCJ Media Studio inauguration at Maulana Azad National Urdu University marked a major step for media education. The Department of Mass Communication and Journalism opened the “Ardeshir Irani Media Studio” in a formal ceremony. Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice Chancellor, led the inauguration.
During the event, Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar, also attended and supported the initiative. The ceremony brought together faculty, students, and dignitaries. It highlighted the university’s focus on strengthening media infrastructure and practical learning.
Addressing the gathering, the Vice Chancellor stressed the need for interdisciplinary learning in media studies. He encouraged students to explore new ideas and contribute to the changing media field. Therefore, the new studio aims to support creative and technical growth among students.
Ardeshir Irani Media Studio inauguration also included a campus visit by the Vice Chancellor. He toured the Departmental Library, Computer Lab, Graphics and Animation Lab, and Non Linear Editing Lab. Meanwhile, a special screening titled “Glimpses of Videos” showcased highlights from 100 programmes under the “Digital Media Productions” initiative.
The dignitaries appreciated the quality and effort seen in student work. They noted the creativity and technical skills demonstrated in the productions. Also, the screening reflected the department’s focus on hands on learning.
Prof. Ehtesham Ahmad Khan, Dean and Head of the Department, thanked the Vice Chancellor and other guests for their support. He also acknowledged the work of faculty and staff in achieving the department’s goals. Meanwhile, several senior professors and department heads attended the ceremony along with students and research scholars.
Later, the event concluded with a podcast session titled “Urdu Media 2.0.” Ms. Saleha Waseem, an MA JMC student, conducted the session with the Vice Chancellor. The discussion covered his academic journey and leadership vision for the university.
The podcast also explored topics such as modernization, inclusive education, and new academic programmes. It highlighted NEP 2020 implementation, sustainability efforts, digital learning, and student engagement. The session ended with guidance and insights for students. The podcast will soon be released on the MCJ YouTube channel.
