Pune Rural SP Sandeep Singh Gill revealed that the plane lost control while trying to take off as part of a training exercise and overshot the runway. This is the second plane crash in Baramati after the Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar incident. Five people, including the then Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, died in a plane crash in the same area on January 28 this year. On May 13, another training plane crashed near the Baramati airstrip. The training pilot escaped safely in that incident. Recently, another accident took place in the same area.

Meanwhile, in the wake of a series of accidents, authorities have taken steps to modernize the Baramati airport. They are planning to build an air traffic control (ATC) tower. They are also preparing to expand the runway, install safety systems necessary for night-time flight operations, and set up a separate fire station. (Maxim News)
