Hyderabad, August 9: Union Minister Bandi Sanjay said the BJP would convert the Bhagyalakshmi Temple at Charminar into a Golden Temple if it forms the government in Telangana.
He made the remarks while participating in the Lal Darwaza Simha Vahini Bonalu celebrations on Saturday.
Bandi Sanjay also promised greater government support for Bonalu celebrations in Hyderabad. He said the BJP would provide extensive funds and facilities for the annual festival.
Bandi Sanjay Targets Congress And BRS
The Union Minister criticised the Congress government over funding for the Lal Darwaza Bonalu celebrations. He claimed the government had allocated Rs 5.50 lakh for the event.
He also criticised the previous BRS government over an alleged promise to provide Rs 20 crore for temple development. He accused former Chief Minister KCR of failing to fulfil the promise.
Bandi Sanjay also targeted BRS working president KTR over his earlier comments about the Bhagyalakshmi Temple. He said KTR had later visited the temple.
The BJP leader further criticised the Congress government over alleged differences in funding for religious events. He questioned the allocation of funds for temples and other religious occasions.
He also appealed to Hindus to unite and support the BJP. He said the party would develop temples and organise Bonalu celebrations on a larger scale if elected.
Bandi Sanjay concluded by seeking the blessings of Goddess Simhavahini for youth working for Sanatana Dharma.
