AP Cabinet gives nod for Ambedkar name to Konaseema district

Amaravati, June 23: The Cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday gave approval for renaming Konaseema district as Dr. B.R Ambedkar Konaseema district.

Among 42 issues, 32nd item was related to giving nod to change of name to Konaseema district. Besides, the Cabinet approved sanctioning of 112 acres through the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Investment Corporation (APIIC). Earlier, the Cabinet nod is required for land more than 50 acres. Now, the YSRCP government issued orders seeking Cabinet approval even for granting one acre of land.

The Cabinet gave approval for release of funds to beneficiaries under the Jagananna Amma Vodi on June 27. Permission was granted to the Green Energy Project being set up in Andhra Pradesh with an estimated cost of Rs 15,000 crore. The project will generate 3,700 MW power in a phased manner. Approval also accorded for the Jagananna Vidya Kanuka, Vahana Mitra and Kapu Nestham.
