AP CM YS Jagan Recalls Services Of Former President Kalam

Hyderabad, July 27 (Maxim News): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday remembered the contributions of ‘Missile man of India and former president of the country APJ Abdul Kalam in the field of science and technology on his fourth death anniversary. In his tweet on his official twitter account, he said, “My humble tribute to the Missile man of India, former President Sri #APJAbdulKalam ji on his death anniversary. His enormous contribution in the field of science and technology will always be remembered. Kalam ji’s teachings continue to inspire millions.”

Fondly called as the ‘People’s President‘, Kalam became the president of India in 2002 during the BJP led NDA rule and served till the year 2007. In the year 1997, Kalam was conferred with India’s highest civilian honour, Bharat Ratna for his contribution to the scientific research and modernization of defence technology in India. He was also the recipient of the Von Braun Award from the National Space Society in recognition of his excellence in the management and leadership of a space-related project in 2013.

Kalam’s role was vital in India’s Pokhran-II nuclear tests held in the year 1998, the first since the original nuclear test conducted by India in the year 1974.

Born on October 15, 1931 in Tamil Nadu, Kalam passed away on 27 July, 2015 at IIM Shillong while delivering a lecture to students. His funeral was held in his hometown in Rameshwaram in Tamil Nadu. (Maxim News)
