AP High Court | Amravathi / Hyderabad, Oct. 5 (Maxim News): Five additional judges have been sworn in as permanent judges of the Andhra Pradesh High Court following approval of their appointments by President Droupadi Murmu.
The oath-taking ceremony took place on Monday in the High Court’s First Court Hall at Amaravati. Chief Justice Justice Lisa Gill administered the oath to the five judges before a full bench.
The newly appointed permanent judges are Justice Kuncham Maheswara Rao, Justice Thoota Chandra Dhana Sekhar (T.C.D. Sekhar), Justice Challa Gunaranjan, Justice Avadhanam Hari Haranadha Sarma and Dr Justice Yadavalli Lakshmana Rao.
The Union Ministry of Law and Justice issued the official notification after the President approved their appointments. The move followed the Supreme Court Collegium’s recommendation on September 23.

The ceremony was attended by other judges of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, Bar Council representatives, members of the High Court Advocates’ Association, senior advocates, judicial officers, registrars and officials from the Law Department.
The appointments mark the transition of the five judges from additional to permanent positions on the High Court bench.
Justice Maheswara Rao Kuncheam, also known as Kuncham Maheswara Rao, Justice Thoota Chandra Dhana Sekhar and Justice Challa Gunaranjan were appointed as additional judges in October 2024. Justice Avadhanam Hari Haranadha Sarma and Dr Justice Yadavalli Lakshmana Rao joined the High Court as additional judges in January 2025.

The permanent appointments were approved under Article 217(1) of the Constitution. The judges will continue to hear cases and discharge judicial responsibilities as members of the Andhra Pradesh High Court. (Maxim News)
