AP minister Gautam Reddy dies of cardiac arrest

Hyderabad, Feb.21 (Maxim News): Andhra Pradesh Industries & IT Minister Mekapati Gautam Reddy died of cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city. The hospital authorities said Gautam Reddy breathed his last at 9.16 am of Monday. He was brought to the hospital by his family members at 7.45 am and doctors admitted him into the ICU and tried to save the life of the minister for 90 minutes, but in vain.

He was 50. Gautam Reddy was the son of industrialist and former YSRCP MP Mekapati Raja Mohan Reddy. Gautam was born on November 2, 1971. He completed MSc from Manchester University in England. He entered active politics during 2014 Assembly elections and won from the Atmakur Assembly constituency of Nellore district. He retained his seat in the 2019 Assembly elections and went on to become the Industries & IT Minister in the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy cabinet.

Gautam Reddy returned to the city on Sunday from Dubai after taking part in Dubai expo for one week. He held discussions with different investors and industrialists and held discussions on the issue of the making investments in AP State. He also entered into MoUs with some firms during the expo. He recovered from Covid virus last month after being infected by it on January 22, 2022. The body of the minister was taken to his Jubilee Hills residence from the Apollo hospitals. The AP government has decided to hold the last rites of the minister with full State honours.

The last rites of the minister will be performed at his native place Brahmanpally in Nellore district after his son who is currently studying in the US, returns. The State government declared two days mourning in the State as a mark of respect for Goutham Reddy. (Maxim News)
