A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court challenging the exclusion of the Chief Justice of India from the selection committee to fill two vacant commissioner posts in the Election Commission (EC). The petitioners sought to restrain the Center from taking up the appointment of new commissioners under the Chief Election Commissioner and Appointment of Election Commissioners Act- 2023.  It has been revealed that an inquiry will be held next week (March 21).
