Assembly Elections For Tripura, Nagaland And Meghalaya Announced

Delhi/Hyderabad, Jan 18 (Maxim News): Chief Election Commissioner, Rajiv Kumar announced the election schedule for Tripura, Nagaland, and Meghalaya today, with the election code of conduct for these states having come into force with immediate effect.

The elections for 60 seats of Tripura will be held on February 16 and in Nagaland and Meghalaya both these two states also have 60 seats each for which the elections will be held on February 27 in both the states. The election results of these three states will be announced on March 2.

As the Election Code of Conduct has come into force, any irregularities in elections can be informed through cVigil app. He said that the Election Commission will respond to complaints received from people within 100 minutes. He clarified that people’s participation is very important if elections are to be conducted freely without temptations.

The Chief Election Commissioner said that the state assemblies of Nagaland, Meghalaya, and Tripura will end on March 12, 15, and 22 respectively. elections will be held in 60 Assembly constituencies in each state. There are 62.8 lakh voters in these three states. 1.76 lakh voters will vote for the first time in these three states. 376 polling booths will be manned by women staff.

A team of the Election Commission headed by the Chief Electoral Officer visited the states on January 11 in view of the term of the legislative assemblies of the three states ending in March. A series of meetings were held. Opinions of political parties, local administration, and police personnel of the respective states were taken in the elections. (Maxim News)
