Attack on TV5: Man arrested in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: The Jubilee Hills police on Monday arrested one person who allegedly attacked the office of Telugu news channel TV5 at Jubilee Hills.
The suspect was identified as T Chiranjeevi, 32, a resident of Krishnanagar and native of Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh.
On Friday, according to the police, Chiranjeevi had consumed liquor and was going along Jubilee Hills Road No 1.
“When he reached the TV5 office, he picked up a stone and hurled it at the security cabin of the news channel office. The window panes of the cabin were damaged,” said DCP (West) AR Srinivas.
Chiranjeevi fled the spot and reached the Jubilee Hills check-post, where he created nuisance at the junction, trying to control the traffic, the official said.
The police tracked down Chiranjeevi and arrested him on Monday.
“So far we have not found him to be connected to any group or political party. He pelted the stone as he was in a drunken condition,” the police said.
He is being produced before court.
