Hyderabad, July 9: Police arrested two men within 48 hours for allegedly stabbing a man over a Rs.2,100 wage dispute in Suleman Nagar, Attapur, officials said.
Attapur Police and a task force detained accused Syed Aftab @ Affu, 24, and Akbar Khan, 28, on July 9, 2026. Officers registered Cr No. 792/2026 under relevant sections including attempt to murder and organized crime. Police seized three knives, two mobile phones, and clothing belonging to the victim and A1.
Investigators said the attack occurred about 00:40 hours on July 7, 2026, outside House No. 4-25-1/7/F, Suleman Nagar, Chinthalmet. The victim, identified as Syed Pashu, was stabbed on the right side of his abdomen and suffered severe bleeding. Medical details were not released.
Police said the assault followed repeated demands for unpaid wages of Rs.2,100. The victim and A1 reportedly worked together in Mumbai from May to June 2026 as goods carriage drivers under an employer named Sheikh Mobin. Mobin owed the victim Rs.2,100. Pashu repeatedly pressed A1 to recover the payment, saying A1 arranged the job.
According to the charging sheet, A1 phoned A2 and asked him to come to A1’s house with intent to kill Pashu. At about midnight on July 7, Pashu arrived with friends and a quarrel broke out. A2 drew a knife but was stopped by bystanders. A1 then fetched a second knife from his house and stabbed Pashu. The two accused fled. Police say A1 picked up the knife dropped by the victim before fleeing.
Both accused have prior cases pending. A1 faces earlier charges including a 2021 case under Section 307 and a 2025 case under Section 109(1). A2 has an earlier 2018 case involving murder and arms charges, still pending trial.
Senior officers supervising the arrests included DCP S. Sreenivas and Addl. DCP K.S. Rao. The arrests were conducted under ACP T. Srinivas, SHO K. Nageswara Rao, and Inspector K. Ravi of the task force. Police said the work of the team will be suitably rewarded.
