B. Kripanandam ED PMLA Case | Amaravati/Hyderabad, Oct. 27: The Andhra Pradesh government has granted permission to prosecute retired IAS officer B. Kripanandam, who served as Secretary of the Industries and Commerce Department and the Mines Department in the undivided Andhra Pradesh government.
The state government has issued official orders granting the permission following a request from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) Joint Director in connection with an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) registered under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
B. Kripanandam ED PMLA Case | Allegations linked to mining lease allocations
According to the allegations outlined in the case, Kripanandam allegedly misused his official position in collusion with former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and other accused persons.
The allegations relate to mining lease allocations and claims that Bharathi Cements was extended benefits in violation of applicable rules and procedures.

The ED is investigating whether Kripanandam indirectly assisted in the process of converting proceeds allegedly generated through criminal activity into assets or funds presented as legitimate income. The investigation falls under the provisions of the PMLA, which deals with money laundering and related offences.
Government approval clears way for prosecution
The Andhra Pradesh government’s permission follows the ED Joint Director’s request to proceed against the retired official. With the approval granted, the agency can move forward with the proposed prosecution, subject to applicable legal procedures and the relevant court process.
The development marks a further step in the ED’s investigation into alleged irregularities associated with mining leases and the alleged financial benefits extended to Bharathi Cements.
The allegations against Kripanandam and the other named individuals remain allegations unless established through judicial proceedings. The government’s approval to prosecute does not, by itself, establish guilt. (Maxim News)
