Bad News For Bangladesh Cricket Fans: Jio Cancels Broadcasting Deal

Delhi/Hyderabad, Mar 30 (Maxim News): Bangladesh cricket fans were shocked by the Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament.  India’s JioStar has announced that it has terminated its IPL broadcasting contract in Bangladesh.

This development comes after the government there said that it was reconsidering the previous ban on IPL broadcasting.  The cancellation will come into effect immediately, according to a letter written by JioStar to TeeSports (Bangladesh broadcaster) The decision was reportedly due to the partner’s failure to make payments on time as per the agreement.

During the tenure of Bangladesh’s caretaker prime Minister Muhammad Younis, attacks on Hindu minorities took place.  At that time, there was widespread criticism over KKR’s acquisition of Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman in a mini auction for Rs. 9.20 crore.  As a result, he had to be released on the orders of the BCCI.  Later, the Bangladesh government issued orders to stop the broadcasting of the IPL in their country.
