Hyderabad, June 20: A court in Malkajgiri on Friday granted bail to Bandi Sai Bhageerath, an accused in a POCSO case and the son of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay.
Cyberabad police had arrested Bandi Sai Bhageerath earlier in connection with allegations of sexually assaulting a minor girl. After his arrest, police shifted him to Cherlapalli jail.
The bail came after government lawyers opposed the petition filed on behalf of Bhageerath. However, the court allowed the plea and granted him bail in the case.
Questions raised over progress in Bandi Sai Bhageerath POCSO case
The case has also triggered questions over the pace of the investigation. According to the allegations, the police have not yet named Union Minister Bandi Sanjay and another person, Sangappa, as accused in the case.
There is also criticism over the delay in filing a chargesheet. So far, the police have not submitted the chargesheet in court, leading to concern over the progress of the case.
The victim’s family has also reportedly not received a clear update on the status of the investigation. Questions are being raised over why police officials and public prosecutors have not fully explained the developments in the case to the family.
The developments have sparked criticism from sections of the public, who allege that the investigation has not moved in a transparent manner. The case is likely to remain under close watch as legal proceedings continue.
